Pam Davis and Jim Kelley,
playing in their first TBI Best Ball Championship, put on a birdie clinic and
won the 2007 TBI Best Ball Championship at Lake Spanaway Golf Course in
Tacoma. Pam and Jim shot a tournament record 56 (-15) which included twelve
birdies and two eagles. Finishing
four strokes back at 60 was John Solis/Bert Dewell.
Pam and Jim birdied eight of the first nine holes, including the first six in
a row. They added eagles at the 10th and 15th holes on
their way to matching front and back nine 28’s. Their scorecard featured no
bogies.
John and Bert shot matching 30’s and their round included three eagles.
After 14 holes, they were 12 under and were in the lead by a stroke. However,
bogies on two of the last four holes proved to be their undoing.
Mark Steiner and Mick Tovey took third place with a nine under 62. After as
lackluster 33 on the front, they closed with a 29 to finish a distant 6
strokes back. Another stroke back at –8 (63) were Randy Hagen/Marci Solis
and Chris Tovey/Ryan Stowers.
Lynn Bottoms won Closest to
the Pin on #3 with a shot to 18’. Shawn Tovey captured KP on #14. Randy
Hagen won the prize at both #6 and #17. Long Drive went to Brian Tovey at #16.
Chris
Tovey shot the lowest score with an 87. Other fine rounds were turned in by
Lynn Bottoms (88) and Mick Tovey (88).
