Killer B’s
Capture 2003 Best Ball
TBI Club members Tom Birmingham and Rick
Berg captured the 2003 Best Ball Championship shooting an eleven
under par 60.
Tom and Rick eagled #5 and #7 as Rick made natural birdies on each
hole. Rick’s front nine 38 propelled the team to net 29 going out.
Tom got into the act with a net eagle on #12. Rick and Tom were ten
under through the 13th hole and added a birdie at 18 to
close out their two stroke victory.
Benny Anderson and
Rich Pennewell birdied the first two holes, and strung together five
straight birdies between the 7th and 11th
holes. They also added a birdie at 18 to finish second at –9.
Benny turned in the low round of the day with 76, fashioned around
several amazing shots out of the trees.
Tied for third at 63
(-8) were Bert Dewell/Shawn Tovey, Chris Hermsen/Robert LoFranco and
Todd Anderson/Lance Takehara. Chris and Robert started birdie/eagle
and added two more eagles on birdies by Hermsen at #5 and #11. Todd
and Lance birdied the first three holes and also 7,8 and 9 to make
the turn in 30, but only managed a back nine 33.
Chris Tovey won
Closest to the Pin on #3. Shawn Tovey won KP on #6. Benny Anderson
hit to within 8’ 5” on number 14. Mike Tovey was closest to on
the 17th. Steve
Skibbs captured long drive honors on #16 for the second consecutive
year.
Low Gross went to
Benny Anderson with a 76. Other fine rounds were turned in by Todd
Anderson with a 78, Rick Berg (79), Steve Skibbs (83), Chris Tovey
(89), Kevin Denton (87), Lance Takehara (88) and Shawn Tovey (86).
