The
1999 Washington Masters was the largest tournament in the event's 11 year
history, with 84 players teeing it up and vying for the prize at Lake Wilderness
Golf Course. At
days end, the team of Mike Cutler, Digger O'Dell, Fritz Miller and Kathy
Zimmerman had blown away the field with a six-under 65 to win the coveted Green
Shirts traditionally awarded to the Washington Masters champions. No other team was within three shots of the
victors, as scoring proved difficult due to the unfortunate quality of the
greens.
Capturing the
Pink Ball Challenge was the team of Tony Bartenetti, Duane White, Jeff Bissell and Colin Rowe
with an 84. This team seemingly had little problem scoring, and returned
with both pink balls to seal the victory. Long drive honors went to Lynn Bottoms
for the men and Kathy Zimmerman for the women. Closest to the Pin winners were
Marc James, Chad Pearson, Mike Cutler and Ryan Stowers.
An awards banquet held afterwards in the Lake Wilderness banquet room was a
resounding success.
